remember to breathe
Yeah, so school's winding down, woo. But I have to get my schedule for next year all sorted out because it's just.. madness. Seriously, I didn't think all of that would be so complicated, but apparently it can be. And then next year's senior year, so it's all like, you're deciding your future. right now. as we speak. Which you know, is kind of terrifying for obvious reasons.

Your Bones

Your Bones
Sorry I've kind of fell off the planet, but AP testing came up on me and kind of kidnapped me. And finals are coming up soon too, so...

Alright, here's my poem. Let's hope it isn't too terrible!

Trekking through the forest,
Flowers in our hair,
With the steady beat of our drum
We march on through our journey.

But winter followed us
With the storm and snow
And along we went on.
Still we walk on through our journey.

Soon it came to be too much
As weariness set in our bones
And we lost you, my friend,
As we stumbled on through our journey.

So on that day we said goodbye,
Leaving you in the calm sea
And in our thoughts we hold on to you
And our memories we had on our journey.

Books are more real when you read them outside
A little more whimsical than my normal style, but I quite like it! Tell me what you think, should I make more of these types of sets? :)

Fill out this application.
Name: Kathy

Age: 16

Short Bio of yourself: An avid bookworm who lives vicariously through different characters and their adventures. Whether it involves magic, an epic quest, or maybe a little romance you can bet I'll be interested.

Your idea of a Perfect adventure: I would love to go on a nice, long hike in the mountains. I would bring only some food and water with me and then set out to think quietly to myself.

What interest you in this group: I'd like to challenge myself to do new things and go on new adventures. To me, life is too short to let it pass by, so I need to make sure that I spend my time wisely.

Will you be the 'Ultimate Adventurer': Well, I don't want to jinx anything but I sure hope so :)

The Sound of You and I
-Seabirds
I was first tagged by the wonderful @kcp14
1.What was the last book you read?
It’s actually a funny story, I was supposed to be reading The Grapes of Wrath for English but I got sidetracked on Barnes and Noble and picked up this book called Jane. It was basically a modern retelling of Jane Eyre, which is my favorite book, so I had to get it. Or at least that’s my excuse.
2.Put a music player on shuffle. What is the first song?
Everything Will Be Alright by The Killers.
3.What are some personality traits you find attractive?
Intelligence or curiosity, empathy, and being down to earth.
4. What is your all time favorite song?
Oh it changes all the time, but probably Clouds by Zach Sobeich. He wrote it when the doctors told him he didn’t have much time left after a remission with cancer and it’s just really pretty and meaningful. Also, he’s a great singer so there’s that.
5. If you made a band right now, what would you call it?
Ooh, this is a tough one. Maybe “Tracing Spirals in the Earth” but I don’t know if that’s too long to be really catchy. But I saw it as graffiti on some post office box in new york and it just stuck with me.
6.Something that always makes you happy
I hate to sound cheesy or nerdy, but reading books. Even if the books are sad, I love being able to envision myself in all these different situations and stories. It’s like living vicariously through other people.
7.Do you usually have your nails painted?
Yeah, I mean kind of. I’d like to more often, but when my nail polish chips, my nail gets all damaged, so I’m trying to take a little breather now and then.
8.How do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Uh, probably as some sophisticated and enthusiastic researcher, confident in both my education and my capabilities.
9.What is something you've always dreamed of as a kid?
Traveling overseas and eventually moving there. Probably not very realistic and almost certainly not going to happen, but a girl’s got to dream.
10.What was the last album you bought?
A couple songs from Costello Music, the album by The Fratellis.
11.If you had $1 million, what would you do?
I’d like to say donate it to some meaningful charity, but whats more likely is that I would save it for college.

Questions from the lovely @beforenightfalls1313
1. what do you think about most?
I’m pretty self-reflective, so probably myself. I actually have conversations about myself in front of the mirror sometimes..
2. do you have any strange phobias?
Well I don’t consider this strange, but a lot of people think it’s weird that I’m deathly afraid of cacti. Especially because I don’t live anywhere even remotely close to where they can live. They’re just so scary and prickly though
3. first thing you notice about someone?
Probably their eyes. I have the bad habit of sometimes fixating on them unconsciously, so I have to actually concentrate on not completely staring at someone and creeping them out.
4. favorite cartoon
Well, I don’t really watch or read cartoons, so..
5. do you believe in karma?
Not in the strict sense that bad people who do bad things will have bad things happen to them, but I do think that people will have their mix of bad and good luck throughout life.
6. love at first sight?
Okay, I’m not sure about this one, but I’d rather not rule it out. However, I do think that it would probably not be love that both people would feel, more like an instant attraction or infatuation or whatever. I think love is a little more complex and takes more time to develop than just a glance.
7. Shakespeare: genius or overrated?
I’m not really sure. I mean, I don’t think he was a genius in the technical sense because he wrote stories that already kinda existed. But then again, to have his work stick around after all those years, he must have done something special.
8. favorite scent?
There’s this perfume that smells of woods and vanilla and is all musky and piney and yummy. I pretty much wear it all winter because it’s such a cozy scent.
9. favorite author?
Either Jane Austen, John Green, Charlotte Bronte, Stephanie Perkins or Elizabeth Gaskell. Yes, it is quite an eclectic bunch, I know..
10. strangest thing on your bucket list
I don’t actually have a bucket list per se, but I’d like to live in another country for at least a year. And that’s not counting a study abroad session, like actually living overseas and having a real job and everything.
11. if you could travel to any time period, which one would you travel to and why?
Gah, you ask just the right question. I’d love to be transported back into the Regency Era with all the courting menfolk and manners and chivalry. Even though women didn’t really have that many rights or jobs and everything, the romantic in me is yearning some Darcy/Rochester/Thornton. I sometimes wonder if my expectations for men are too high from reading too many classic romance novels..

Once again another tag from the absolutely perfect @kcp14
1) why'd your parents name you the name you have?
I have the same first name and middle name of my grandmother.
2) do you like your handwriting?
Yeah, even though its not always the neatest, I kinda really like it. It’s not all bubbly and annoying but then it isn’t chicken scratch either, so it has this sort of unique yet legible air about it I quite like.
3) last thing you ate?
Um, a chocolate easter bunny. Yeah…
4) are you a hopeless romantic like me :)
No doubt about it. Unfortunately my romantic notions don’t quite translate into my actual life. Like there’s this pathetically attractive football player that’s actually smart and nice and cute and everything, but I can’t quite get the courage to start a conversation myself. So yeah, I’m romantic and I also am hopeless, too.
5) if you could have lunch with five people dead or alive, which 5 people would you pick?
Richard Armitage, Brandon Flowers, John Green, Martin Freeman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Is it a problem that I adore them and they’re all around at least twice my age? Nah, let’s not think of that…
6) what's one of your biggest regrets?
So I joined the school soccer team in freshman year but all the girls there were cliquey and we never got along well. I joined our marching band this year, for my junior and senior year and I just wish I joined to start with. I kinda feel a little isolated at times, not that I was really bullied or anything, but band forms these amazing bonds and I wish I could have had them since freshman year. Not to sound pathetic or anything but yeah.

My questions:
1.) Describe yourself in four words.
2.) What did you want to be when you were a kid?
3.) Did you get pranked/fooled this April Fools?
4.) Are you an optomist, pessimist, or realist?
5.) Are you a science/math person or an english person?
6.) Favorite type of plant?
7.) What would your patronus be?
8.) If you were ever chosen for the Hunger Games, would you survive and if so, how?
9.) Any suggestions for music? :)
10.) What's one skill you wish you had?

@kcp14 questions
1. Favorite clothing brand
Oh I don’t know, I like free people a lot but sometimes their stuff is a little out there. I would never be able to rock some of their clothing.
2. Favorite lyrics
I’m blanking out on lyrics right now, but I’ve been digging Dustland Fairytale lately.
3. If you could visit anywhere in the world, right now, where would you go?
Somewhere in Great Britain where there are nice accents and charming fellows and romantic nights and no worries. Or like some national park in Finland or Sweden or something, I’m not really sure.
4. Have you been to any concerts?
Unfortunately no. I wanted to go to the Killers concert at Madison Square Garden in December, but I’m broke so that didn’t really happen…
5. If you could meet any famous person, alive or dead, who would it be?
I’ve developed a recent obsession with Richard Armitage, so probably him. I don’t even care about our topic of conversation, I just want to look at him and hear his lovely voice. Seriously, his voice literally melts my ears it’s so beautiful. Sigh.
6. Favorite animal
I don’t actually have a favorite, but I like owls, turtles, and horses. They’re all pretty cool.
7. Where would you most like to live in the future?
Some faraway place in the middle of nowhere with lots of cute farm stands and people. But that’s not really realistic seeing that I want to work in the medical science research field stuff, so yeah.
8. Favorite food
I like chocolate cake with a delicious chocolate frosting. I actually have this amazing vegan recipe that I love, even though I’m not even vegetarian. It just tastes so good!
9. Favorite outfit
There’s this long light blue tunic I have that I put on with these light wash skinny jeans. I just need to find the right footwear for it..
10. Something you're looking forward to
Our mock trial team made it to nationals, so I am not so patiently waiting for April 1st to roll around for the case to come out. It’s super exciting.

@closetoinfinity questions
1. Best birthday present you've ever gotten?
I got tickets to see Wicked and that was pretty awesome. We saw it with my mom and my grandma and it was a lovely day
2. Favorite color combination?
Basically any bluey-greeny mix of colors. But if I had to choose maybe an ivory with a soft blue of some sort.
3. Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?
Both, I can’t choose! They’re honestly a tie.
4. Favorite shop at the mall?
There’s this sale rack at Lord and Taylor that always has incredible deals, so I like going there. But when things are full priced, I can’t afford anything, so theres that.
5. Nose or lip piercing?
Uh, neither please. I barely got my ears pierced, so its fair to say that I’m not a huge piercing fan.
6. Straight hair or curls?
Well, I have curly hair but I’ve always been jealous of people that have naturally straight and not frizzy hair. But I’ve been slowly getting around to appreciate my hair, so it’s not like I hate it.
7. One thing you'd like to change about the world?
World peace? Hunger? I don’t know, some cliché that would solve a bunch of problems.
8. Favorite animal?
Owls, turtles or horses.
9. Do you believe in luck?
Well, I know that some people have more luckier lots in life if that’s what this means. And my sister’s pretty luck when she enters raffles.
10. Will you ever accept the fact that you're beautiful?
Maybe? I mean, I don’t think I’m hideous but I also don’t think I’m particularly pretty. Sometimes it depends on my mood though.

@thegoldenstag questions:
1. Starbucks or Costa Coffee?
Since I’ve never had costa coffee, I suppose I have to go with Starbucks.
2. Favourite song right now?
Probably You don’t know me by Ben Folds. I don’t know what about it makes me like it so much, but its so cheerful sounding even though the lyrics are kinda sad.
3. Favourite song ever?
I have to say Mr. Brightside. I mean, it’s the song that got me interested in The Killers, not to mention that it’s a really fantastic song.
4. Favourite band?
Well from my last answer you could probably tell that it’s The Killers, but other than that I really like Franz Ferdinand. They both make good songs to dance and sing around to, which is always fun.
5. What is the one thing about yourself that you are self conscious about the most?
Whenever it gets cold or I exercise or anything, my hands get all red and kind of swell a little. I’m not sure why, but this just bothers me so much. Also my feet are freakishly small, they’re a size 5.5 or 6
6. What is the thing that you think is best about you?
I think that I have a pretty good emotional intelligence, so I tend not to upset anyone. And for someone in their mid- to late-adolescence, that’s pretty good I suppose.
7. What is the best thing about your best friend?
She’s the nicest person I will ever meet. Seriously, I don’t know how she does it, but she thinks the best of people. I guess in a way she kind of reminds me of Jane in Pride and Prejudice…
8. Which do you prefer: Tanned or Pale?
As long as it looks natural, it’s all good. But for my own vanity’s sake, I’d like to think that pale is in.
9. What colour hair do you like the most?
I love red hair. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but it’s always so striking and I wish I had it, even if it would make me stand out and kinda look like Merida from Brave with my curly hair.
10. What colour eyes do you like the most?
I actually don’t have a real big preference. Like, some people have really striking blue or green eyes, but there are other people with these deep brown eyes that are so beautiful you could drown in them. So I guess it depends on the person.
11. What is your favourite book?
Jane Eyre will forever be close to my heart, but a close-ish second is North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I watched the miniseries with Richard Armitage and then had to read it and oh my stars and garters, what an amazing book! I read it twice within a week..

The sky wasn't big enough for them all
Hello lovelies! I'm glad to be back again after the most stressful week or two of school. Like, I made this a while ago, but never got around to actually uploading it, if you can believe it. But, better almost late than never, if I say so myself.

It was not your fault but mine, and it was your heart on the line
Little lion man - Mumford and Sons
I was tagged by the lovely @ohsnapgirlfriend and she makes such pretty sets, so check her out! :)
1) last movie you saw in the theatres:
Oh gosh, I don’t even know anymore. Probably Brave but I’m not really sure. I’m not really a movie-goer though..
2) best movie you saw in the theatres:
So I’m terrible at picking favorites, so I’m just going to say The Hunger Games. Or Source Code, but that would be because of the people I went with and not necessarily the movie.
3) top 3 tv shows:
Alright, so definitely Downton Abbey (can I rant about this past season?), I guess How I Met Your Mother, and maybe House Hunters International? But the only show I really follow religiously is Downton Abbey.
4) a tattoo you want to get:
I’m not a huge fan of tattoos but if I had to get one, I’d probably get a small tattoo going down my back saying ad astra per aspera, which is latin for to the stars through adversity.
5) favorite clothing item you own:
I got this really nice jacket from Free People that I really like. It’s kind of like a sweater-type material and classic, so I think it will last a long time.
6) favorite holiday:
I can’t choose favorites, so it’s a mix of Christmas, Thanksgiving, and St. Patricks Day.
7) last book you read:
Technically the last book I read partially was called Eleanor and Park, but I couldn’t even finish it. I’m not sure why, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea unfortunately. But the last book I finished was Midnight in Austenland, which I really liked. It wasn’t as good as Austenland though, so that was a little disappointing.
8) favorite restaurant:
So this may not be around anymore because it went out of business, but Steak & Ale. It’s the place my family and I always went with our grandparents, so it’s kind of special to me. Also their mashed potatoes and chocolate cake were to die for.
9) favorite animal:
Hmm, I’m not really sure. I like this certain kind of porcupine that lives in Australia though because it makes the cutest little noises. But it kind of looks scary though, so there’s that.
10) favorite type of candy:
Either Reeses, Butterfinger, or Nerds. Or maybe also Sour Patch Kids. So basically I’m not really picky.
11) favorite gift you've received from a friend
So this doesn’t sound very personalized, but I got a gift card to Barnes and Noble from a good friend. I actually still haven’t finished it, but that’s just because I’m so indecisive and want to make sure the books I choose will be interesting and rereadable. But I think I need another bookshelf, so…
